You guys, this is my new go to winter dress. It. Is. Everything.

I recently visited one of my MOST favorite fabric shops here in Utah. It’s called Harmony and it’s located at 315 E Center Street, Provo. You can also find them on Instagram @harmonyprovo. It is the most charming fabric store I’ve ever been to. Aside from their stunning fabric collection, they also sell yarn, gifts and offer some really fun classes year round.

How cute is this store!?

They just started carrying some great Merchant and Mills garment sewing patterns. Sometimes these can be a little hard to get a hold of in the U.S (for a decent price). These are currently going for $13.50 each at Harmony.

I chose the Rugby Dress pattern because I love the simple silhouette, but also the structure that the collar and cuffs add to the design. It’s a loose fit but just perfectly so. I sewed up a size 10, and didn’t make any adjustments to the pattern. I ended up chopping a few inches of the hemline, it’s quite long. The directions are great, easy to follow, and I’m so so happy with this dress.

Let’s talk fabric. I was originally thinking linen for this dress but then I found this gorgeous plaid wool at Harmony and it was all over for me. (And there’s still some left!). It’s thick, warm and so so cozy. Throw on some tights and boots and you’re ready to go. I’m thinking I need to make a spring/summer version of this dress in linen too. This is hands down one of my most favorite makes.

I also found these awesome vintage buttons there. If you need buttons or trim… Harmony has the coolest selection guys.

If you’re ever in town make sure to stop in!! Happy sewing!

  1. Perfect dress for “feeling chilly Canadian” 🙂 Love your choice of fabric for this dress. I’m a huge fan of Merchant and Mills as well. Simple, classic. You’ll be wearing this dress to threads. If I’m in Utah I will definitely visit that little shop. Everyone dreams of having a shop just like that close by 🙂
